In 2001, Ahmed started as a model when he won the first Mr Asia UK modelling contest, where he was the only contestant of Bangladeshi descent. Ahmed studied at the University of Greenwich.[2] He played semi-professional football with Sporting Bengal United F.C. and captained the team. He worked as a coach for West Ham United F.C along with working as a model and actor in independent and mainstream productions. In 2006, he was approached by renowned football choreographer Andy Ansa who was casting an actor who could play decent level of football and also could speak Hindi to play a role in the film Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal.
